Compatible with sensitive formulations and systems.

  • No impact on taste, odor, or color
Suitable for use in food, beverage, and pharmaceutical applications.

  • Resistant to chemicals
Maintains stability when exposed to a wide range of chemical substances.

  • Versatile industrial use
Applied in water treatment, food production, pharmaceutical processes, gas purification, and more.

  • Extended operational life
Reduces the need for filter replacement and protects downstream equipment.

Technical Properties

Perlite is produced by heating volcanic lava sand to approximately 1,100 °C, causing the material to expand rapidly and form a porous, lightweight structure. This physical transformation creates a maze-like particle shape that significantly increases surface area—making it particularly effective at capturing and retaining fine particles.

Typical characteristics include:

  • High silica content (SiO₂)

  • Low bulk density

  • Non-crystalline, chemically inert structure

  • Moisture-retaining and thermally insulating properties

Perlite is available in various grain sizes to suit both filtration and filler applications—including custom formulations upon request.

Applications

Perlite is widely used in industries where effective filtration or lightweight fillers are essential. Common applications include:

  • Food & Beverage: Filtration of wine, beer, juice, syrup, and edible oils

  • Pharmaceuticals: Sterile filtration of medical liquids and process water

  • Water Treatment: Filtration of municipal and industrial water supplies

  • Chemical Industry: Clarification of process fluids and acids

  • Gas & Air Filtration: Particle removal in industrial ventilation and air purification systems

  • Construction & Fillers: Lightweight aggregates, sound insulation, and fire protection
